The Fichissimo logo is a reminder of the artisanal character and strong bond with Sicily, but also expresses modernity worthy of a new entry in the world of liqueurs.

Properly cleaned and stripped of their thorns, the prickly pears undergo a maceration period of two to three weeks in alcohol.
After this key process and a simple addition of water and sugar.
The result is a perfectly integrated prickly pear liqueur with an intense aroma and flavor of the fruit.
After a further period of rest, the liqueur is ready in all its exceptional authenticity and simplicity.

The prickly pear
The great protagonist
The origins
It is said that the first prickly pear plants were brought to Europe in 1493 by Christopher Columbus returning from his first trip. The plant spreads in North Africa and above all in all of Southern Italy, finding a favorable environment for its expansion.
Over time, the prickly pear penetrates more and more into popular traditions and Sicilian culture.
The properties
Listing the properties of prickly pears is a long work given the number and great variety of them. Prickly pears are low-calorie fruits, rich in vitamins, minerals and lots of fiber.
Each fruit weighs about 200-300 grams and one of the most important characteristics of these fruits is undoubtedly the rich presence of antioxidants useful for delaying cellular aging.
The prickly pear and Sicily

The words “heat”, “sun” and “light” are usually associated with prickly pears and southern Italian regions. More than the other southern Italian regions, Sicily, land of centuries-old passion, has hosted this beneficial plant with a thousand properties.
The prickly pear has been included in the list of traditional Italian agri-foods products (PAT) of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Mipaaf) as a typical Sicilian product.
The prickly pear has been proposed as food of the future because it is sustainable and part of circular economy with a strong impact. In Sicily it is also called “green petroleum”.
About us and our journey
We are an Italian start-up whose purpose is the production of sicilian liqueurs as Fichissimo, Allora and Karat – handcrafted in Sicily, where the prickly pears, the laurel’s plants and the carob trees grow in all their flavor and deliciousness.
As often, our journey started by chance.
We chose such names, because our liqueurs are both very, very cool (both prickly pear and cool are translated by the Italian word “fico”, hence Fichissimo)! Karat’s name comes from further away: in ancient times carob seeds were used as the unit of measure of the carat, and that is where the Arabic word Karat comes from.
With great care and passion, we handed over all the original techniques and steps to a Sicilian distillery that carefully maintains the same characteristics of simplicity and craftsmanship without any additives.
The passion of an Italian manager for the production of artisanal liqueurs for personal use met the creativity of an Italian entrepreneur who immediately perceived its value and conceived the name. These are the ingredients for our journey, the Fichissimo, Allora and now Karat adventure!
The choice of Sicily as the place of cultivation and production is a tribute to this wonderful land: a warm and welcoming land where these beneficial plants found a perfect home, from the prickly pear to the carob tree, which here is called the tree of survival.
