Allora was born and grows in Sicily, and from that warm and welcoming land, in a context of refined environmental sustainability, this laurel nectar draws its vibrant color and infuses those who experience it with beneficial properties for the mind and the body.
The Allora logo is a reminder of the artisanal character and strong bond with Sicily, but also expresses modernity worthy of a new entry in the world of liqueurs.
Allora is to be consumed at the end of a meal and in company, similarly to Fichissimo or other amari or liqueurs. It is an excellent digestive and is to be served cold. Thanks to the leaves’ properties, this liquor is also antioxidant and antiseptic.
Allora gives the palate a pleasant sensation of freshness, intensity and persistence.
Allora is crafted with simple ingredients, is of amber color, and has 36% alcohol content.
All the leaves are strictly from Sicily and, without any kind of treatment, after a short period of drying undergo a maceration period of two to three weeks in alcohol.
After this key process with a simple addition of water and sugar and an additional period of rest, Allora is ready in all its exceptional authenticity and simplicity.
The result is a perfectly well balanced laurel liqueur with an intense aroma and flavor of the leaves.
Allora is distributed by Fine Spirits S.r.l. and you can only find it in the best restaurants and wine shops as well as on dedicated e-commerce sites.

The laurel
The great protagonist
The origins
Since the beginning the laurel grows in the Mediterranean area as a hardy plant and it also spreads in the Mediterranean scrub. In the Greek and Roman mythology laurel represents glory and wisdom and it is considered a sacred plant.
The myth of Daphne gives rise to all the beliefs and current traditions about the laurel. The wonderful nymph, strongly courted by Apollo but at the same time eager for her freedom, decided to run away from him and implored her parents to turn her into a laurel plant. Apollo, disappointed, planted a laurel in his garden and gave it the gift of being evergreen, and to celebrate his undying love he decided to wear a wreath of its leaves forever.
Soon the wreath of leaves became a symbol of greatness in the arts, in sports and in heroic deeds. During the first Olympic Games of 776 b.C. the winners were crowned with a wreath of laurel. In the Roman age emperors and consuls, as well as poets and writers, were glorified with the same practice. During the Middle Ages some important poets were appointed “graduated poet”, as in the modern age a graduate is crowned with a laurel wreath.
The properties
The laurel is widely used in the kitchen, to flavour meat and fish and, due to its sweet and intense aroma, it is amazing when it is used to prepare teas and refreshing digestives.
The laurel leaves have powerful antioxidant properties due to their ability to neutralize free radicals, and bring mineral salts and vitamins to our healthy diet.
In the regions of southern Italy and especially in Sicily the leaves are infused to prepare a fragrant and aromatic liqueur which also has digestive, antiseptic and stimulating properties. And it is precisely from these ancient recipes that we at Issimo created our Allora.
Laurel and Sicily

Originally from the Mediterranean basin, it finds in Sicily a perfect habitat for its development where it grows spontaneously both in coastal areas and inland. This naturalness and spontaneity in the development of the plant gives its name to a specific type of scrub: Lauretum. This habitat, which is widespread in Sicily, combines many types of plants typical of the area.
Since its origins, bay leaves have been used in Sicilian cuisine and today this beneficial plant has been included in traditional Italian agri-food products P.A.T. of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies as a typical Sicilian product.
About us and our journey
We are an Italian start-up whose purpose is the production of sicilian liqueurs as Fichissimo, Allora and Karat – handcrafted in Sicily, where the prickly pears, the laurel’s plants and the carob trees grow in all their flavor and deliciousness.
As often, our journey started by chance.
We chose such names, because our liqueurs are both very, very cool (both prickly pear and cool are translated by the Italian word “fico”, hence Fichissimo)! Karat’s name comes from further away: in ancient times carob seeds were used as the unit of measure of the carat, and that is where the Arabic word Karat comes from.
With great care and passion, we handed over all the original techniques and steps to a Sicilian distillery that carefully maintains the same characteristics of simplicity and craftsmanship without any additives.
The passion of an Italian manager for the production of artisanal liqueurs for personal use met the creativity of an Italian entrepreneur who immediately perceived its value and conceived the name. These are the ingredients for our journey, the Fichissimo, Allora and now Karat adventure!
The choice of Sicily as the place of cultivation and production is a tribute to this wonderful land: a warm and welcoming land where these beneficial plants found a perfect home, from the prickly pear to the carob tree, which here is called the tree of survival.
